Minting of the 1 DM gold coin. The last sets of circulation coins mark the end of the German Mark minting ever. Minting of the first Euro coin sets commenced.

Minting of the 100 and 200 euro gold coins. Minting of uncirculated and proof Euro coin sets was completed. Production of the first motif for the 10 Euro football commemorative coin for the 2006 World Cup was commenced.
